Prepar3D installation - future plans

Postby N1G » Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:53 pm

Hi,

I thought I would see how my favorite plane worked in P3D but no joy. I got a p3d error. Fault module name is panels.dll.
I understand that p3d is not supported at this time but wondered if you guys plan to support p3d in the future?

Regards
Bob

Hi Bob, I don't actually have Prepar3D -yet- to be able to test this, but I've been told it’s the transponder (gtx327) that causes the error in Prepar3D. An immediate solution that works, is to comment out the gtx327 in the panle.cfg (there are four config files, one for each RV variant)

Here are the panel.cfg file paths...
%\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Vans_RV7\panel.RV7_sldr\PANEL.CFG
%\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Vans_RV7\panel.RV7_tip\PANEL.CFG
%\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Vans_RV7A\panel.RV7A_sldr\PANEL.CFG
%\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Vans_RV7A\panel.RV7A_tip\PANEL.CFG

Add \\ to comment out the gtx327 gauge...
Here's the 2D instance...
Code: Select all
[Window01]
size_mm=300,355
position=8
visible=0
ident=15327

gauge00=btsRV7!gma340,            0,0,300,60
gauge01=btsRV7!gns530,            0,60,300,216
// gauge02=btsRV7!gtx327,            0,276,300,79

And here's the 3D instance...
Code: Select all
[VCockpit02]
size_mm=512,512
pixel_size=512,512
texture=$vcGarminStack
background_color=0,0,0

gauge00=btsRV7!gma340,            0,1,512,87
gauge01=btsRV7!gns530,            0,87,512,312
// gauge02=btsRV7!gtx327,            0,399,512,113

Hope this helps...What this is, is a work around...not a final solution…because you will no longer have a transponder. Chances are the changes required to make the GTX327 Prepar3D compatible aren't complicated. It is not a very complex gauge, and in fact it's sort of curious that it doesn't work. But I'm not sure yet what the full solution is.

It is a wonderful little plane in all respects. Sure beats a barn door Cessna.
