New Smoke System

Postby acrobatic » Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:10 pm

Personally, if I may have made a slight modification to the item smoke CFG file and I think it was a little more realistic, not that it was not original, but this is a little thicker and more time is suspended in the air, especially created for shows air. Simply replace the item smoke CFG file system for this below:

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0 = -13.30, 0, -2.10, smoke-zlin50_d
/ / smoke.1 = 0.00, 12 0.00, zlin50_tipsmoke
/ / smoke.2 = 0.00, -12, 0.00, zlin50_tipsmoke

Do not forget to backup the original file.
Hugs to all!

Hi acrobatic, I can add to that...for the change people will need to install the zlin-50 aircraft as well.
smoke-zlin50_d isn't a default FSX effect. But I think it's a great idea to use the smoke that suits you best.

BTW, do you have the FSX SDK? There's a great run-time effects tool included (make&see your changes right in FSX). It allows you to edit the RV's smoke effect and it is pretty easy to add more density and length. The only drawback to such a change is a minor performance hit. I tend to put an emphasis on performance for all the defaults - many users need optimized content to avoid stutters and poor FPS. Still in isolation, increasing one item like the smoke effect isn't going to hurt much at all ;) The RV's smoke uses FSX's animated texture feature for particles - so it's a bit more sophisticated than the average smoke effect. It spawns from the exhaust pipe too, as it really should.

Code: Select all
[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0 =   -5.453, -0.406, -1.741, btsFxRV7_smoke
smoke.1 =   -6.250, -10.293, -0.578, btsFxRV7_volumetric
smoke.2 =   -6.250, 10.293, -0.578, btsFxRV7_volumetric

:!: Just a caution, make sure to leave smoke.1 and smoke.2 (volumetric) just as they are. Those effects are used by the landing lights at night in clouds. If you need an additional smoke effect add it as smoke.3
Cheers,
Danny

Ok Danny, did not really know to use the smoke of Zlin aircraft would have to have installed, thanks for the tips. I tested the smoke that you suggested above and found that it is very good, too, is a good time in the air. Thank you.
