Canopy reflections

Postby Ron Attwood » Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:04 am

Danny, I recall JvanE requesting a clear canopy and I can't remember what the outcome was. My mate Rockcliffe mentioned that the tip up canopy is virtually clear, as if there is no glass at all! I agree with him. My questions are, did the final version include clear glass and is there a chance the previous file is still available? I'm not a fan of over tinting but subtle reflections are, in my view, essential.

Hey Ron, I didn't include J's personal changes...I just reduced the tint colour.
As you know it's possible to change the reflection by changing the value of the alpha channel.
These canopy map psd's are not in the paint kit, but I could upload a canopyMaps kit...just say the word ;)
That way you could quickly make some custom looks.
The current reflection is a balance between the two camps :D

I would certainly appreciate the canopy maps kit - perhaps with a few instructional notes for the newbies!

Don't know if it is something to do with one's monitor model or calibration, in game graphics settings, external tweak settings or perhaps just personal preference, but opinion does seem divided on the strength of the canopy reflection!

Personally I feel it is too light - especially on the flip top canopy as It doesn't have the visible framework present in the slider that helps my eyes believe that the surrounding glass is there too. I would go so far as to suggest that a smudge or two a là the Turbine Duke would add something to the overall effect as well.

I know it is a very minor gripe, but I think that is just indicative of how good the rest of the product is!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers!

The word. :D

The current reflection on the tip up canopy is definitely too far towards J's prefences. The Sliding canopy is fine.

I'm distraught! I've fiddled and faffed, read and re-read Danny's instructions but all I've achieved with the reflections is:
A. No difference at all.
B. Turning everything black.
What I have learned, is to stick to colouring book stylee stuff. *sigh*
