Hi Danny & others
I hope you can enlighten me. Ive been painting for quite some time so at least im not completely new to it all but Im rather desperate for some help on what im doing wrong
1. ill start off by saying I use DXTBMP for the conversion process of .dds to .bmp for editing & vice versa to get it back to .dds format after I have edited the paint in photoshop using the DXT5 option
2. Ive even copied the alpha channel as a .bmp & re-imported thinking that might be my problem - alas it is not solving my problem
3. What I also noticed is that my paint (exterior_T.dds) once converted back to DXT5 format is 5.3mb in size as compared to the original 4mb size. This is not normal & I don't know why the texture is resizing like that. Ive see other paints such as N507RV, & a few others that managed to keep the 4mb file size
my problem is this:
looking at the side of the aircraft the paint seems all fine & crisp. once you start changing the view moving around the aerie on the same eye level the texture starts blurring. I cannot understand why its doing that. I at first thought it was the alpha channel that was missing & hence re-imported it but that didn't fix the problem
what am I doing wrong ?. Please can someone give me guidance - I really need it. Im busy with such a nice paint scheme & I usually do it by hand so that I can keep my lines looking good & in general make a really quality paint with good colour etc. but I know that im wasting my time because the minute I convert the texture back from .bmp to DXT5 it just blurs out again & really makes my paint look amateurish
id appreciate all the help I can get to get this problemo sorted out & learn something new
cheers
Brendon
